1. Read the extract from the end of the novel A Christmas Carol. How has Scrooge’s character changed? Discuss in pairs.

Scrooge is happy and is not unkind.

2. Read the extract again and answer the questions.

1. What happened to Scrooge during the night?

He had a terrible dream.

2. What did Scrooge ask the boy in the street to do?

He asked the boy to buy the best food from the butcher’s shop and take it to Bob Cratchit’s house as a gift.

3. Why are all the people in the street surprised?

They’re surprised because Scrooge says ‘Good morning’ and he is not usually friendly and happy.

4. Why does Scrooge go to his nephew’s house?

He wants to have dinner with his nephew.
